Gilbert “Gibi” Ciro Snijders, better known as “Gibi,” was born on December 9, 1940.
Gibi participated in various sports such as football, athletics, volleyball, basketball, baseball, judo, and tennis, but his primary sport was bowling. From 1957 to 1961, he was part of the Radulphus College selection team. In 1960, he joined the national selection as a goalkeeper.
In 1957, Gibi started practicing judo, and in 1960, he achieved the black belt, 1st dan. He also served as an assistant trainer to his brother Eddy Snijders. Additionally, from 1955 to 1957, he participated in shot put in athletics, played tennis at Suffisant from 1957 to 1958, and later on the CSC court from 1980 to 1990. Gibi practiced javelin throw from 1955 to maintain his fitness.
Gibi joined the basketball club Athene in 1958. After one year, he became part of the Curaçao national selection, representing Curaçao in Carabobo, Venezuela, as the youngest player on the team.
Administratively, Gibi served as president of both the Curaçao Bowling Association and the Netherlands Antilles Bowling Federation. He holds the honorary presidency and advisory membership. In football, he was the president of SITHOC for four years.
In the field of swimming, Gibi was the vice president in 2002 and contributed to the organization of CISC. For three years, he served as the president of the Little League Liga Pabou.
In 2001, Gibi was elected as part of the board during the annual meeting of CONCECABOL. He served as vice president for the last eight years, stepping down after 14 consecutive years in the board. In 2002, during the Pan American Bowling Confederation’s general meeting, Gibi was elected to the board, where he served for 12 consecutive years.
Gibi also played a significant role in judo, serving as an assistant trainer for over 25 years.
In football, he refereed in the first division for five years, retiring when he joined the SITHOC board.
Gibi achieved numerous international recognitions and received substantial local acknowledgment for his contributions.

Gilbert “Gibi” Ciro Snijders, beter bekend als “Gibi”, werd geboren op 9 december 1940.
Gibi beoefende verschillende sporten zoals voetbal, atletiek, volleybal, basketbal, honkbal, zwemmen en tennis, maar de hoofdsport was bowlen.
Van 1957 tot 1961 maakte hij deel uit van het schoolteam aan het Radulphus College, in 1960 was hij keeper bij het nationale team.
In 1957 begon Giba met judo en in 1960 behaalde hij de zwarte band en de eerste dan. Gibi werd assistent-trainer van zijn broer Eddy Snijders.
In de jaren 1955-1957 was hij "kogelgaten" in de atletiek. In de jaren 1957-1958 tenniste hij op de baan van Suffisant, vervolgens van 1980-1990 op de baan van CSC.
Sinds 1955 beoefent Gibi ook zwemmen om in vorm te blijven. Gibi is in 1958 aangesloten bij basketbalclub Athene. Na een jaar maakte Gibi deel uit van het nationale team van Corsou en vertegenwoordigde hij Corsou in Carabobo, Venezuela, als jongste speler van de selectie.
Als bestuurslid was Gibi voorzitter van zowel de Curaçao Bowling Association als de Nederlands Antilliaanse Bowling Federatie. Gibi is erevoorzitter en adviserend lid.
In het voetbal was Gibi 4 jaar voorzitter van SITHOC.
In het zwemmen was Gibi in 2002 vicevoorzitter en hielp hij bij de organisatie van CISC.
3 jaar lang was Gibi voorzitter van Little League Liga Pabou.
In 2001 werd Gibi tijdens de jaarlijkse vergadering van CONCECABOL verkozen tot lid van de raad van bestuur, waarvan de laatste 8 jaar als vicevoorzitter. Na 14 opeenvolgende jaren in de raad van bestuur te hebben gezeten, gaat Gibi met pensioen.
In 2002 werd Gibi tijdens de algemene vergadering van de Pan American Bowling Confederation verkozen tot lid van de raad van bestuur, waar hij 12 opeenvolgende jaren heeft gediend. Yudo Gibi hielp ook en was meer dan 25 jaar assistent-trainer.
In het voetbal was Gibi 5 jaar scheidsrechter in de eerste divisie. Gibi gaat met pensioen omdat hij toetrad tot de raad van bestuur van SITHOC.
Gibi heeft internationaal al heel wat successen geboekt. Ook lokaal heeft Gibi veel erkenning gekregen.
