Dudley begon in 1967 met het beoefenen van jeugdsporten. Hij volgde deze 9 jaar bij dhr. Leo Floridas in Buurcentrum Steenrijk en behaalde daar ongeveer 1 jaar zijn diploma voor gele bank. Dudley hield niet zo van de stijl van helpen, waarbij je jezelf moest vasthouden om de techniek te kunnen oefenen.
Nadat Dudley in 1970 stopte met helpen, ging hij karate beoefenen bij Sportschool Braaf, waar hij karatelessen kreeg van wijlen Ashwin Felix q.e.p.d. Hij stopte opnieuw omdat de training wat eentonig werd.
In 1973 begon Dudley weer te trainen bij karate-instructeur dhr. Henry Hougon.
Dudley trainde tot eind 1975 en nam in een periode van 2 jaar deel aan verschillende toernooien, waarvan sommige goede resultaten opleverden. • 1973 in Curaçao, tweede plaats met witte band,

• 1975 op Aruba, eerste plaats in de categorie groene band, en in hetzelfde jaar in Japan op het Wereldkampioenschap Kyokushinkai (categorie zwarte en bruine band) zonder classificatie.
In 1976 richtte Dudley samen met enkele andere karateka's hun eigen karateclub op en noemde deze "Curaçao Karate Organization". In datzelfde jaar hielpen ze ook bij de oprichting van "Curaçao Karate Bond", met de heer William Millerson als voorzitter, die net terug was uit Nederland.
Dudley Josepa kan zeggen dat zijn succes begon op het moment dat hij voor het eerst in de geschiedenis van Curaçao Karate Curaçao vertegenwoordigde met een karateselectie, gevormd door verschillende karateclubs in Curaçao, waar hijzelf destijds ook deel uitmaakte van de selectie.
Hiermee heeft karate een nieuwe ontwikkeling doorgemaakt die heeft geresulteerd in de vorming van een selectie op Curaçao. In 1976 streed Dudley om de eerste en tweede plaats in het Union Latin American del Caribe de Karate Championship (ULCKA) tegen William Millerson, in welke wedstrijd hij tweede werd. Nadat Dudley in de periode 1976 tot en met 1982 diverse prijzen wist te winnen op Pan-Amerikaans en Latijns-Amerikaans niveau, vertrok Dudley in augustus 1982, na het afronden van zijn middelbare technische opleiding (MTS), naar Nederland om te studeren en zette daar ook zijn karatetraining voort.
Dudley bleef in Nederland om te studeren en zijn trainingen daar voort te zetten.
Dudley bleef in Nederland en nam deel aan karatewedstrijden in verschillende landen, waar hij indrukwekkende resultaten behaalde.

Naast deze prestaties wist Dudley 14 keer het Nederlands kampioenschap te winnen, waarbij zowel individuele als teamprijzen werden gecombineerd.
In februari 1992 ging ze weer naar Curaçao om te strijden en keerde terug naar Curaçao. Ze werd direct coach van de selectie van Curaçao en Antillas en was tegelijkertijd ook actief als deelnemer.
Op Curaçao is Dudley meerdere keren uitgeroepen tot atleet en coach van het jaar. De belangrijkste prestaties na zijn terugkeer naar Curaçao waren:
Opgemerkt moet worden dat Dudley niet alleen aan karate deed; blijkbaar voltooide hij bij zijn terugkeer naar Curaçao drie studies, waar hij zijn diploma's behaalde.
Dudley gelooft er heilig in dat je de tijd moet nemen om hard te werken en dat een goed voorbereidingsprogramma de weg is naar succes en om ooit kampioen te worden.
