Hubert Dominicus Jansen, born on December 20, 1933.
Hubert’s career in sports administration began when, at the age of 18, he became the secretary of the Aquino basketball team. Three years later, he took on the role of secretary for the Curaçaose Basketball Bond (CUBAFE). Hubert is also a co-founder of the Nederlands Antilliaanse Basketball Federatie (NABAFE), where he served as vice president. Not long after, Hubert submitted a petition to become a member of the board of the Curaçaose Voetbal Bond (CVB). He became the second secretary, then secretary, and eventually the president of CVB, a position he held for two years. Due to disagreements with some officials over the direction they wanted to take football in Curaçao, Hubert left the sport as an administrator.
For many years, Hubert served as the secretary of the Antillean Olympic Committee (NAOC). In 1977, together with the late Hubert “Ibi” Schoop, he founded the youth football organization (ORFIK).
Hubert also functioned as the secretary and president of the Royal Scorpions BBC and, for a brief period, as vice president of the Curaçao Baseball Federation. Many people may not know that during Hubert’s time working at Landhuis Hel as the head of the “Department of Public Development & Culture,” he proposed changing the name to SEDREKO, meaning “Service for Sports and Recreation Curaçao.” He worked there until his retirement on December 20, 1989.
In 1990, Hubert received the royal decoration of “Ridder in de Orde van Oranje Nassau.”
Hubert is grateful to sports for giving him the opportunity to travel almost around the world.
He expresses gratitude to two individuals who unfortunately are no longer with us on this earth: his wife Poppy and his sports mentor Pedro Odulio “Doe” Willems.

Huberts carrière als sportleider begon toen hij 18 jaar oud was en secretaris werd van het basketbalteam Aquino. Drie jaar later werd Hubert secretaris van de Curaçaose Basketball Bond (CUBAFE). Hubert is tevens medeoprichter van de Nederlands Antilliaanse Basketball Federatie (NABAFE), waar Hubert vicevoorzitter was.
Niet lang daarna ontving Hubert een verzoek om zich kandidaat te stellen voor het bestuur van de Curaçaose Voetbal Bond (CVB). Hij werd tweede secretaris, vervolgens secretaris en uiteindelijk voorzitter van de Curaçaose Voetbal Bond, die Hubert twee jaar leidde. Omdat Hubert het niet eens was met de manier waarop sommige leiders het betaalde voetbal in Corsou wilden aanpakken, verliet Hubert de sportkoning als leider.
Hubert was jarenlang secretaris van het Olympisch Comité van de Nederlandse Antillen (NAOC). In 1977 richtte hij samen met wijlen Hubert "Ibi" Schoop de organisatie voor kindervoetbal (ORFIK) op.
Hubert was tevens secretaris en voorzitter van de Royal Scorpions BBC en korte tijd vicevoorzitter van de Corsicaanse Honkbalbond.
Wat veel mensen niet weten, is dat toen Hubert bij Landhuis Hel werkte als hoofd van de afdeling Volksontwikkeling & Cultuur, hij op zijn voorstel de naam wijzigde naar SEDREKO, wat betekent dat Hubert deze naam bedacht, wat staat voor "Dienst voor Sport en Recreatie Corsou", waar hij werkte tot Hubert op 20 december 1989 met pensioen ging.
In 1990 ontving Hubert zijn koninklijke onderscheiding als "Ridder in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau".
Hubert is de sportwereld dankbaar voor de mogelijkheid om bijna de hele wereld rond te reizen.
Hubert wil graag twee mensen bedanken die helaas niet meer onder ons zijn: zijn vrouw Poppy en zijn sportmentor Pedro Odulio "Doe" Willems.
