In the year 1960, at the age of 15, Romoldo Martis began practicing the sport of softball with his friends. In 1991, he became a co-founder of the Santa Rosa White Sox/Presto Light softball club. In 1962, the club participated for the first time in the official softball championship. In his first year, Romoldo played in the positions of second base and shortstop before becoming a pitcher, a position he held for 20 years.
As a pitcher, he achieved success both locally and internationally. His first encounter with pitching was in 1966 in Venezuela when the General Manager of Banco Metropolitan, Mr. Molina, taught him some pitching techniques while his team, Santa Rosa White Sox/Cockspur, was visiting the country for friendly games. After returning to Curaçao, Romoldo continued to develop his skills and with dedication, he became one of the best male softball pitchers, gaining recognition both locally and internationally.
During his career as a pitcher, Romoldo led his team to championship titles in Curaçao and the Netherlands Antilles. Internationally, he won three medals: 2 Gold and 1 Silver. In 1978 in Medellin, Colombia, Romoldo played a crucial role in Antia winning the Gold Medal in the Central American and Caribbean Games. In 1983 in Cartagena, Colombia, he contributed to Antias winning the Silver Medal in the Pan American Softball Championship. In 1987, Romoldo retired as an active player and dedicated his time to coaching pitching. In this role, he accompanied different Antillean selections in international competitions. Romoldo also conducted pitching clinics in various countries, including the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Bonaire, as requested by the Central American and Caribbean Softball Confederation.
Romoldo’s greatest satisfaction is being recognized as a high-level softball pitching instructor. This was publicly acknowledged by the former President of the Softball Federation of Santo Domingo, Mr. Freddy Vallego, after the Santo Domingo men’s team became champions in the 1983 Central American and Caribbean Championship in Cartagena, Colombia.

In 1960 begon Romoldo Martis op 15-jarige leeftijd met zijn vrienden softbal te beoefenen. In 1991 werd hij medeoprichter van softbalclub Sta. Rosa White Sox/Presto Light.
